This pen was based on a goat horn that inspired me to think about the issues faced by livestock. This led to me creating a narrative based on the unethical farming practices that pigs and chickens face. The shiny face looks almost sweaty whilst the dull faces can be likened to the damage received by the livestock. I wanted the base to be like a cage so i used less organic shapes and had the pressure from the “bars” which hold the pen in place.
The top concept is an awl and the bottom concept is a pen. I took the pen to production as it made more sense for printing on the j850
